We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and AAT Technician level qualified and with experience of working within a Finance or Business Environment. The right person will be technically capable and operational focused Financial Accounts Officer, preferably with a background in Cost or Project Accounting. Delivering high-quality management accounting work which involves the analysis of financial information will be key for this role, as well as the preparation of financial reports and helping non-Finance colleagues to interpret and understand financial principals and procedures.

The successful candidate will be capable of defining new processes ensuring strong financial control. The business is a fast-paced environment, adapting to change and finding solutions for new transactional processes will be key.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance function of the business, including associated group businesses when directed.
  • Monthly management accounts with ownership of all monthly interdepartmental reporting.
  • Annual accounts production and submission
  • Development of management information to enable effective decision making, including in-depth review of KPIs and analysis of gross margins by revenue stream.
  • Overseeing ledger management and stakeholder reconciliations.
  • Management of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Management of the relationship between external advisors, auditors and HMRC
  • VAT reporting, management and submission of returns.
  • Working with the Group FD on Tax Management
  • Cash flow management, monitoring and reporting into group FD
  • Making and authorising domestic and international bank payments
  • Supervision of current or future finance assistant team recruits
  • Ability to develop internal processes and systems to support future growth and streamline processes.
  • Working with the MD and Group FD when required on ad-hoc projects to continually improve the business
  • Ongoing review, analysis and appropriate record keeping relating to software development projects to enable any potential R&D claims to be made.
  • Liaising with business lenders and finance providers as and when requested
  • Such ancillary duties as may be reasonably requested by the MD

The successful candidate will respect confidentiality and be able to work in confidence, not releasing information to unauthorised persons, and will undertake any appropriate training and development as required by the business as part of continual learning within the role.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
  • Sound business knowledge
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Ability to use Excel to a high level

Not essential but desirable:

  • Someone with a background in Cost Accounting and understands Product Pricing / Modelling.
  • Advanced modelling
  • Xero Accounting Software

Benefits
The role will be working remotely from home, with occasional travel to our Liverpool offices for quarterly meetings. 35 hours, Monday to Friday and a salary of between £28,000-£30,000.
